This is a stunning cut of solid spalted Holly, sourced locally here in Dorset. The spalting in the wood is the colouration changes due to mould of fungi in the wood. The trick is to catch the spalting at the right time; long enough to get the beautiful colourations, but not too long as it will eventually rot the wood.
These stunning and unique cuts often get overlook at the wood mill because of their imperfections, but with the right approach and some care, these pieces are beautiful and mesmerising because of these very imperfections, imperfections that make these pieces unique and a one-of-a-kind find!

This amazing piece of spalted holly are nourished with a natural mineral oil then finished with a natural beeswax for supple and tactile feel.
